Debt Elimination/Debt Relief;There are several programs out there that claim that they do debt elimination. Be careful! They usually require a front-end fee, and then have you do the paperwork yourself. You might end up negotiating with the banks yourself, and have to settle because you're too scared to go to court. I recently talked to someone who was promoting as service where she had successfully gotten rid of her debt at 50 cents on the dollar. She thought she had done a good thing. I told her she had cheated herself, and that her $40,000 of credit card debt was fully dischargable if she had done the right course. As it turned out she still paid the bank $20,000 and thought she was getting a good deal.
